Top budget RAM recommendations for an AMD Ryzen 5 gaming PC?

Look I am pulling my hair out trying to pick the right ram for this build and I only have like 55 bucks left in my budget after buying the gpu. I am running a Ryzen 5 5600 and everyone keeps saying the infinity fabric thing means I HAVE to get 3600mhz but then some people say 3200 is fine if the latency is low and I just dont get why it has to be this complicated. My logic was that faster is better for gaming like Cyberpunk but then I look at the prices and my head hurts.

Right now I am torn between the TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB kit which is like 35 dollars and then there is the G.Skill Ripjaws V at 3600mhz CL18 for a bit more. I was leaning toward the TeamGroup because it saves me money for a better mouse but then I saw a video saying Ryzen sucks without the 3600 speed so now I am second guessing everything. Is the 3600 speed actually gonna make a difference I can feel or am I just overthinking this for a budget build? I need to order this by tomorrow so it gets here for the weekend. Is there a third option I am missing that is better than both of these for under 50 bucks? The PC is mostly for Valorant and some open world stuff so I dont want stutters...

Honestly, 3200mhz is totally fine. I usually grab this for budget builds tho:

^ This. Also, I kinda disagree that 3600 is a must for a budget 5600 build. There was a time I spent a whole weekend trying to get a cheap 3600 kit stable on a B450 board for my brother. It was a nightmare of random crashes in the middle of games. Eventually, it turned out the memory controller on his specific chip just didnt like the kit I bought. Swapped it for a 3200 set and the problems vanished instantly. Honestly, for your budget, focusing on reliability is the move. 3600 CL18 and 3200 CL16 actually have the same real-world latency, so you arent missing much. If you buy a super cheap 3600 kit, sometimes you get lower quality chips that run hot or crash. These are my go-to safety picks:

  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200MHz CL16
  • G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 3200MHz CL16 Both are usually under 45 bucks and wont give you any trouble when you enable the XMP profile. Tbh, if you are playing Valorant, you are gonna be way more limited by your GPU or your aim than by a slight difference in ram speed. Use the extra ten bucks for that mouse... a better sensor will actually help your rank, while 3600mhz ram is mostly just for bragging rights on spreadsheets for a build like this.

Seriously, dont stress too much about the 3600 vs 3200 debate for a budget 5600 build! Youll love the performance either way! Just a huge warning tho:

  • Avoid those random no-name brands that look way too cheap on sale.
  • Market analysis shows many bottom-tier brands use low-quality chips that crash as soon as you turn on XMP.
  • Stick to reputable labels even for budget kits to avoid the headache of manual voltage tuning! It is gonna be a fantastic build!

In my experience 3200 CL16 is fine.

  • Which motherboard are you using? IIRC some entry boards wont hit 1800 FCLK stable, so let us know.
