Hey everyone! I’m currently putting together a new build with a Ryzen 7 5800X, but I’m getting a bit overwhelmed by all the RAM options out there. I’ve heard that Zen 3 can be a bit picky when it comes to the Infinity Fabric clock and maintaining that 1:1 ratio for the best performance. I'm aiming for 32GB, but I can't decide if I should stick with 3200MHz or if 3600MHz CL16 is really the 'sweet spot' for stability. I definitely want to avoid any weird crashing or XMP/DOCP issues. Does anyone have specific kit recommendations that are known to play perfectly with the Ryzen 5000 series without much tweaking?
Not to disagree, but I'd actually suggest a different approach. While 3600MHz is the 'sweet spot', i've seen stability issues when the FCLK wont hit 1800MHz. If ur priority is zero crashing, grab Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16. It’s technically the official AMD spec and works on basically every board. The real-world performance gap is tiny, and it saves you the headache of tinkering with voltages. peace
Seconding the recommendation above. See, Ryzen 5000 needs the memory clock to match the Infinity Fabric 1:1. If theyre out of sync, latency spikes and performance tanks. Unfortunately, I've had sooo many stability headaches with this over the years. 1. Go with **Crucial**, theyve always been most stable for me.
2. **Corsair** is okay, though some kits weren't as good as expected. Stick to those brands and youll be fine.
Seconding the recommendation above for sure!! 3600MHz CL16 is definitely the way to go for that sweet spot on a 5800X. But honestly, as someone whos dealt with way too many random system hangs, I always tell people to be super careful. Even if a kit is marketed as "Ryzen ready," it might not play nice with every single board... its kinda a lottery sometimes. I'd suggest checking your specific motherboards QVL list first. Its basically the only way to be 100% safe from those annoying DOCP crashes. Before giving more advice tho, what motherboard are you actually using? Also, are you looking for low-profile sticks for cooler clearance, or does that not really matter for your build? Sometimes the height can be a sneaky issue if youve got a beefy air cooler. Better safe than sorry!
For your situation, 3600MHz CL16 is the sweet spot. I’d suggest: 1. G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 It’s basically $75 and honestly runs perfectly on Zen 3 without drama, tbh.
