I just got the new rog ally x and honestly im terrified of dropping it or even just getting a tiny scratch on the screen because i saved up for months to buy this thing and it was like 800 bucks... i have no idea where to start because i see people talking about:

  • hardshell cases
  • silicone skins
  • travel bags

i dont know the difference?? like does a skin actually protect it or is it just a sticker? im mostly worried about when i take it on the bus to work every day. what are the best cases or covers i should look at to keep it safe??

Skins are just thin vinyl, maybe 0.2mm, so they wont help with drops on the bus. Since you're on a budget, a TPU shell is the best move.

  • MoKo Case for ROG Ally X TPU Anti-Slip Cover - high-density TPU is way better for shock absorption than silicone.
  • ivoler 2-Pack Tempered Glass Screen Protector for ROG Ally X - 9H hardness is basically mandatory to prevent scratches. TPU covers are the best bang for your buck tbh.

Wait, you definitely need a hard front cover for that bus ride!! I love my setup because it feels totally bulletproof. It might cost a bit more but worth every penny for the peace of mind...

  • Dbrand Killswitch Case for ROG Ally X
  • Tomtoc Protective Shoulder Bag for ROG Ally X The Killswitch is amazing because the hard shell snaps right over the screen. No scratches ever!!

Re: "Skins are basically just for aesthetics and minor..." - i am in the exact same boat, saved for months and now im too scared to even take it out. unfortunately some cases i tried were super flimsy and just not as good as expected... its disappointing. honestly i think you should just get any protective grip from Skull & Co. GripCase because they are usually the gold standard for reliability. hang in there tho!

Skins are basically just for aesthetics and minor scratches, wont do much for a drop. For actual protection, you need a shell. Tbh, the Spigen Rugged Armor Pro TPU Case is a decent option that fits great and stays within budget. For your bus commute, the JSAUX Carrying Case for ROG Ally X works well and is much cheaper than official ones. It keeps everything safe without breaking the bank.
