im seriously so fed up with my old laptop constantly freezing during my psych lectures. i need a replacement before next tuesday but my budget is strictly under 500 dollars.

  • reliable battery life
  • fast enough for multitasking
  • windows preferred

what should i actually buy that wont die on me after six months?

I've tried many budget machines over the years and honestly the biggest risk at this price point is poor cooling. In my experience, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6 FHD Ryzen 5 5500U 8GB RAM 256GB SSD is the sweet spot for multitasking. It wont let you down during lectures. Check out Slickdeals for price alerts... helps you avoid getting ripped off on older tech.

Do you use SPSS or just take notes? Be careful with build quality.

  • ASUS Vivobook 15 F1504 i3-1215U 8GB RAM: Better durability

Been using this for years, no complaints

Honestly, I had a really rough experience with a budget one I bought last year. It was a total letdown because the screen started flickering after just three weeks.

  • Cheap plastic frames always break
  • Battery life drops fast
  • Cooling fans get way too loud I eventually had to return it and save up for something sturdier. Basically learned that going too cheap just ends up costing more later.

I struggled with freezes until I swapped to an Acer Aspire 5 A515-56 Core i3 8GB RAM. Be careful with cheap storage though, make sure it's an SSD or you'll regret it.
