What are the must-have accessories for a new Switch OLED?

What accessories are actually essential for a new Switch OLED? I am so frustrated trying to pick between the Satisfye ZenGrip bundle and the Orzly starter kit because they both have trade-offs. The Satisfye one looks super comfy for my big hands but it takes up more space in my bag and I am flying to Tokyo next week so space is tight. Orzly is cheaper but people say the quality is hit or miss and I dont want to break this thing after spending $350 at Best Buy yesterday.

My budget is capped at $60 now since the console was so pricey. Do I go for ergonomics or just the basic protection bundle...

TLDR: Buy a screen protector and the Satisfye grip separately. Avoid the cheap bundles. Honestly dont waste your cash on the Orzly kit. I have tried dozens of these over the years and those generic starter kits are usually filled with low-quality filler. Since you are flying to Tokyo next week, you need to prioritize screen durability and hand comfort for that long flight. First, get the amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Switch OLED 2-Pack. Its mandatory because the OLED screen uses a 0.1mm plastic adhesive layer that scratches way easier than the old V2 glass. For ergonomics, the Satisfye ZenGrip Pro OLED is the gold standard for large hands. If the bundle is too bulky for your bag, grab a Tomtoc Slim Case for Switch OLED instead since it is much more packable.

  • amFilm Protector: 10 dollars
  • Satisfye Grip: 30 dollars
  • Tomtoc Case: 20 dollars In my experience, quality components always beat a bag of cheap accessories.

To add to the point above: unfortunately, starter kits are usually trash. Just get the Skull & Co. NeoGrip for Switch OLED. It's cheaper, slimmer, and fits big hands. TL;DR: Skull & Co wins.

Like someone mentioned, skipping those bloated starter kits is the right move. Most of that stuff is just filler. Since you're flying to Tokyo, you really need to be careful about your storage. 64GB fills up fast with digital sales. I'd suggest grabbing a Samsung EVO Plus 128GB microSDXC V30 right away so you dont run out of space over the Pacific. Also, for the big hands issue, you might want to consider the Hori Split Pad Compact for Nintendo Switch instead of a wrap-around grip. It replaces the Joy-Cons entirely and is way more comfortable for long sessions, plus it's slimmer than the Satisfye for packing. Just keep in mind it lacks internal batteries and rumble, but it's a solid trade-off for the price and space. Make sure to double check your bag dimensions before you go tho. Dont want to get to the airport and realize it wont fit in your carry-on.
