What accessories do I actually need to pre-order right now for the Switch 2 launch because I dont want to be stuck with a bare console on day one? I have been looking at some of the early leaks and some people are saying that current Switch screen protectors and cases might work but then I saw a video yesterday saying the dimensions are slightly wider and the buttons are shifted so now Im just stressed that everything I buy will be useless.
I am based in London and I use my current Switch every single day on the Underground for about 45 minutes each way so I need a really solid travel case and probably a high-capacity power bank because the battery life on the old one was always a bit of a nightmare for me. My budget for just the extras is around 150 quid which I know is a lot but I want this thing protected from the jump.
I also read that the new Joy-Cons might be magnetic? If that is the case does that mean we cant use our old Pro controllers or will there be some kind of adapter? I just want to make sure I have a list ready for when the pre-orders actually go live so I can just hit buy and not have to think about it later. Does anyone have a definitive list of what brands are actually reliable for launch day stuff or should I just wait for the official Nintendo gear even if its more expensive...
I wouldnt buy old cases yet because those leaks about a wider screen seem legit. For that London commute, grab an Anker 737 Power Bank 24000mAh 140W to keep you charged for days.
Quick reply while I have a sec... Ive done that London commute for years and weight is honestly a bigger deal than most think when youre squeezed on the Northern line. I spent way too much on official gear early on but eventually realized 3rd party is the way to go for better value. Couple of things I've compared for my own setup:
Just caught this thread today and honestly your London commute sounds exactly like mine. Like someone mentioned, it's definitely risky to buy cases now, but I’ve been so happy with my tech setup lately. I used to carry a cheap battery that barely gave me half a charge, but I switched to the Ugreen 145W Power Bank 25000mAh and it works well for everything. It handles my Switch and phone simultaneously, no complaints at all. > I just want to make sure I have a list ready Regarding the magnetic Joy-Cons, I wouldn't stress too much. I'm satisfied that my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will still work via Bluetooth. Nintendo usually keeps that stuff compatible. For the screen, I always trust Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass. I’ve used their kits on my last few handhelds and they are basically foolproof. Just wait for the specific Switch 2 version to pop up on Amazon!
